Daylight is a volunteer run, member funded co-operative space for community and art in Dublin.

The building consists of a small, warehouse-sized open plan room with one accessible toilet and a small storage closet on the ground floor, with 8-9 studio spaces, a small kitchen and two toilets on the first floor.

The space acts as a shared resource, funded through collective membership. Members can join through our Patreon. Daylight would not exist without the contributions of members. As a member, you can run for council positions, organise events, and democratically contribute to decisions about the running and management of the space.

Daylight does not receive any external funding, and operates on a non profit basis.

The space is currently run by a voluntary, unpaid council with elected members of the council taking on roles such as





Decisions are made collectively through AGM meetings, where volunteers are voted into these roles. The volunteer council holds meetings biweekly to go through the general workings of the space, addressing day to day issues.

The space hosts many events including dance classes, Irish language classes, DIY building nights, cooking classes, theatre nights, DJ nights, punk gigs, and many others.

Dublin has for several years since the onset of the COVID pandemic and subsequent lockdown, and previously through austerity, general speculation on property market and the ongoing housing crisis, been faced with an immense loss of non profit, non publican run, community space. Daylight seeks to fill this void.

We Believe That
Community-run dance, art and political spaces are essential for a healthy society.
Dancing together as a community in an anti-capitalist space encourages radical collectivity.
Building spaces of resistance and community are vital to countering the alienating qualities of capitalism.
Our space should be available to all, regardless of financial circumstances.
Spaces and communities are stronger when they remain outward-looking and inclusive.

Independent, autonomous organisations, self-managed by members, free from control of external organisation
The liberation of marginalised groups, standing against all discrimination and prejudice.
Organising based on solidarity and an anti-oppressive frameworks.
Unions and collective bargaining.

We Aim to
Operate a space for art, community and political organising that is owned and run democratically by members and is accessible for all.
Support community-led organising, art and capacity building that fosters mutual aid and works from an intersectional, anti-oppressive framework.
Create a space that is not for profit and promote viable alternatives to the power structures and social relations of capitalism – (non-hierarchical organising, co- operation and non-profit activities)
Build an open, inclusive and diverse community where differing points of view and opinions are respected
Support an ecology of community-led arts spaces.
